D1 Arrival in Hanoi

Welcome to Vietnam! Your guide will meet you at the exit of the airport. You will easily recognize it in the middle of the crowd: it will hold a sign in your name. You will then meet your driver and get in his vehicle to take the road to the ancient capital of Vietnam. Your hotel room will be available upon your arrival to refresh and rest you if necessary. You will travel to West Lake to see Tran Quoc Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the nearby Presidential Palace. You will then go to Hoan Kiem Lake and the 36 guilds district of the old city, the walking heart of the millennial capital. In the evening you will take a night train to Lao Cai in the highlands.

D2 Discovery of the inter-ethnic market of Cao Son and hiking among the red Yaos

A vehicle will be waiting for you upon your arrival at Lao Cai station to take you to the Cao Son market frequented by many ethnic groups of the Song Chay massif. On the road to Sapa that you will take then, you will stop for a hike through terraced rice fields to the village of Ta Phin inhabited by the Red Yaos. Less than 2 hours of walking (one way). You will be in Sapa at the end of the afternoon.

D4 Meeting with the H’mong

Hiking in the rice fields, bamboo forests and waterfalls. Visit a village where Daos and Black live in H’mong. Picnic lunch. Your driver will wait for you in the valley to drive you back to Lao Cai. D5 Discovery of Halong Bay on Earth

A car will be waiting for you upon arrival at Hanoi Station to drive you to Ninh Binh, on the edge of Halong Bay, on land. D7 Night train for the center of the country

Aurora and twilight show unreal scenery. After breakfast, the boat will continue to make its way through the thousands of sugar loaves emerging from the turquoise waters. Nomadic fishing populations live from the bay and gather there in floating villages. After lunch, you will disembark to return to Hanoi. You will take a night train to Huế in the evening.

D8 Along the Perfume River

J9 Road through the cloud pass

You take in the morning the road towards the South. Shortly after your departure, you stop at the mausoleum of Minh Mang, the second emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty. Then you go through Lang Co and the Col des Nuages, where you will take a break to contemplate the view. In Da Nang, you will visit the son of Thuy’s mountain, that of the water, the largest of the five mountains of marbles which house several Buddhist pagodas, vestiges of the Champa civilizations and natural caves formed by erosion. It offers two spectacular views of Danang and the coast of the China Sea. You will arrive in Hoi An in the middle of the afternoon. You will find on foot in the architecture of its houses Chinese, Japanese and French influences. J10 Market, cooking class and discovery of the surroundings of Hoi An

J11 The Mekong Delta

You will meet your southern guide this morning at the reception of your hotel. You will take the road together for the Mekong Delta. Arrival in Cai Be, then you embark on a small sampan. You will cross the floating market to go to the former home of mandarin and then to the hamlet of Phu An for the beauty of the typical landscape of the delta. Later you will visit one of the many brickworks that line the rach and go to meet some local artisans. Your driver will then take you to Sadec. The city is with its many canals a kind of little Venice. You will visit the Nha Co, home of Huynh Thuy Lè, better known as Marguerite Duras’s lover, the Cao Dai temple and the bonzai garden of the city. Your route will continue to Can Tho where you will spend the night.

J12 The floating market of Cai Rang.

You will embark early on a small sampan to explore the floating market of Cai Rang, the busiest in the Mekong Delta. You will then take the road back to Ho Chi Minh City. Explore Cho Lon Chinatown and Ba Thai Hau Pagoda. Your afternoon will be spent on an excursion to the Cu Chi tunnels, to see a tiny part of the remains of the network of 200 kilometers of tunnels that allowed the Viet Cong, during the last Vietnam War, to resist American invader and attack his bases north-west of Saigon. Return to Ho Chi Minh City at the end of the day.
